Do you feel super busy all the time? The kind of busy where you rush everywhere day in and day out.
Are you too busy with work, then the kids, then housekeeping and on the list goes? By the end of the day you are so tired you just plonk on the bed and need sleep immediately. This causes an overwhelming feeling of guilt because you’ve missed out on quality time with your hubby and kids?
My father passed away in April 2018. It was sudden and quick. Worst of all we didn’t even know he was sick.
The day just before he passed on, he was putting in frosted windows in their beautiful holiday home by the ocean. He was a true handyman always did everything around the house himself.
He planned on retiring at the end of June 2018 as he would have turned 60 at the end of August 2018.
This is so difficult for me to share, and I’m not after pity.
I just want you to realise your time on this earth is short.
Have you truly done what you want so far? Have you truly been living your true purpose?
My father worked hard all his life, and he was super awesome at what he did.
He made such a big impact in the engineering field that he was headhunted a couple of time in the past few years.
He was a true inspiration and mentor to his co-workers and of course to us.
But the matter of the fact is, he never enjoyed the fruits of his labour.
In the past year before he passed, he kept on saying he can’t wait to retire.
This is most heart breaking to me, he never even had a day of retirement fun.
The same thing happened to two of his previous bosses.

Here are 5 ways to leverage your time and spend it wisely.
This helps you to have more time for YOU too!
Start your day in silence
The first thing that 98% of the population does when they wake up is…..
No it’s not going to the toilet or drinking a glass of water.
They pick up their phones and start on social media and emails, reacting to other people’s wants and needs. Leave your phone in the kitchen or living room on charge for the night so that you don’t reach for your phone the minute you wake-up. Turn off all your notifications so that the vibration doesn’t disturb you.
And don’t use the excuse of your alarm on your phone. You still get clock alarms that can wake you up.
As you wake up start your day in silence. Take 15 min for you. Use this time to spend with God reading your bible and praying. Or journal about your gratitude’s and intentions for the day. You can even write down all the ideas, appointments and the to-do list that pop into your head so that you don’t have to try and remember it. Because let’s face it, you always forget those things anyway as life is busy.

Organise and plan
Are you one of those people who just jump-in and react to your environment? This leaves you feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Try planning your day hour for hour to get ahead of your overwhelm. This is very important because you get it out on paper and you don’t have to worry about what to do next. Block out time for emails not more than 2 hours a day, block out time for certain tasks at work. Block out the times when you eat, drop the kids off, fetch the kids etc. Follow the link to my daily planner and customise it to your personal needs. Have tick lists
There’s nothing better than ticking off the things you’ve done for the day. It gives you that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. This helps you to focus on the goals still to be completed and you take more action because you have had small wins. Celebration of the small wins is what fuels the big goal achievements. Journaling can be rewarding as you write down all your wins at the end of the day, just before going to bed. Link to my daily planner. This helps you reflect on your day and it closes of the chapters of what you’ve finished in your head!
Allow time for YOU
One of the leading causes of a stressful life and the feeling of spread too thin is that you don’t take enough time for JUST YOU! Block out a section of time just for you every day where you spend a minimum of 15 minutes to just unwind and breathe. Take a couple of deep breaths where you breathe in for 4 minutes, hold it for 4 minutes and breathe out over 4 minutes. Do this a couple of times. This is so relaxing and calming to the soul. This is especially helpful on stressful days.
Another suggestion is to soak for 30 minutes in a bubble bath with bath salts. You can do the breathing exercises here too. This will automatically put you in the reflection zone where you get to celebrate your wins. Go and plan your YOU time right now for the next 30 days.
Outsourcing tasks you struggle with
There is nothing more frustrating than struggling with tech stuff, or doing admin that drives you nuts. Write down a list of tasks you struggle with and that keeps you from achieving the goals you want to achieve. Outsource these tasks to experts that love doing it and will have it done in a fraction of the time you would’ve. Delegating is powerful especially if you have a team around you. This gives your individual team members meaning and a purpose for the day. Clearly tell them what you need and how to go about the task and then trust that they will do it. Allow room for mistakes and failures. This takes the pressure of your team and they perform much better. You on the other hand can focus on the tasks you want to really do. It’s a win-win situation!
Bonus tip: Learn to say NO!
It’s okay to say NO. When something doesn’t fit into your schedule you are allowed to say no. Allow yourself the space to accept that no is okay. Make other suggestions to your boss or divide the work amongst your team to get the task done quicker. If you are the only one that can perform the task, tell your boss when you will be able to have it ready and break it up into chunks. If it doesn’t fit in at all then speak up. This creates so much relieve without feeling guilty all the time and staying longer when you should be at home with your family.
